The Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural, Religious, and Linguistic Communities mourns the passing away of Bishop Dr. Dingane Simon Gumbi.


Bishop Gumbi was a highly esteemed and distinguished leader whose profound impact on the Christian community resonated not only throughout South Africa but also worldwide. His legacy continues to be etched in the hearts of those he touched, both young and old. His unwavering commitment to spreading the good news, along with his compassion, hope, and resilience, leaves a lasting influence that will inspire present and future generations. His tireless efforts in promoting dialogue, understanding, and fostering unity among diverse religious groups, a mission he pursued with unwavering determination, have left an indelible mark on countless individuals and communities.


As we remember his legacy, we honour the enduring spirit of service, faith, positive moral virtues, and leadership that he embodied. These attributes should continue to inspire and guide us in our collective quest for a more inclusive, morally upright, and just world.
