RPD Research and Policy
Development
The CRL Rights Commission faces the challenge that the heritage(s)
of a majority of South African communities has diminished. The
CRL Rights Act, 19 of 2002 provides for the recovery of the
diminished heritage(s) in order to promote and protect the rights of
communities to their heritage(s). The Commission's Research and
Policy Development Unit is entrusted with a huge responsibility
of developing a knowledge base through research, and it is
through this knowledge construction and reconstruction that the
rights of communities will be safeguarded. C- R- L- Communities
themselves participate and provide reliable information in respect
of diminished heritage.
